Types Of Cabinets Made By Cabinet Makers

Cabinet makers are craftsmen who make custom-made cabinets for various uses. A cabinet is usually a cube-shaped piece of furniture having doors and/or storage drawers for housing miscellaneous objects. There are many types of cabinets, which include: corner, wall, open-faced, drawers, and many more. Some cabinets stand directly on the floor, while others are placed in a cabinet veneer on a wall or are attachable to it such as a medicine cabinet. Most cabinets are made of solid wood, oak, or pressed wood, although there are also ones made of glass and porcelain. Some cabinets have locks, doors, drawers, or storage space for filing or for displaying books.

Woodworking has gained popularity among cabinet makers because it is an art that can be perfected through a series of steps. Many people are into furniture making as a hobby and make some amazing pieces of cabinetry. The most common type of wood used for making furniture is oak, followed by maple and cherry. Other types of woods used include pine, mahogany, elm, chestnut, beech, and other kinds of hard wood trees.

Many cabinet makers like to build-in their wood furniture or purchase them pre-built. Those who build-in their furniture have a much higher chance of getting a unique piece. Customized pieces may cost more than those purchased pre-built, but most woodworkers agree that the quality and variety of workmanship are worth the extra cost.
